London Fashion Week AW23 Best Hair Looks

With the AW23 LFW catwalk shows recently coming to an end, we caught up with Editorial Director at Rush Hair, Tina Farey, a regular backstage at Fashion Week, to get her comments on her favourite hair looks from the shows and why she think they will be on trend as we head further into 2023

Relaxed Waves

For the past couple of years, we have noticed a lot of super sleek hair looks being prominent on the catwalk and becoming a huge trend. I loved that Chanel showcased something different for their AW23 catwalk show – loose, almost disheveled waves paired with pretty hair accessories.

This look would have been created using a small barrel curling tong and only a small about of product, such as a leave in cream, to give the waves a more natural finish with a soft sheen.  I love to use the KMS MoistRepair Revival Crème in towel dried hair before styling to help prep the hair for these softer looks.

This look almost resembles the ‘slept in braids and removed them in the morning look’, a more relaxed beach wave.

Pairing this with a hair accessory is a great way to elevate the hair look slightly, taking two small sections of the hair from the face and pinning this in the back with the accessory to resemble a half-up do for a more beautiful finish.

Low slung buns as seen on Saint Laurent

I loved the slicked, low slung bun as seen on this year’s A/W Saint Laurent catwalk. I love that this combined a sleek sophisticated finish with the hair being slicked back off the face with the effortless low-slung bun.

insta Saint LaurentThis is such a chic and sophisticated look which can be recreated easily by the client and is the perfect style to take from day to nighttime.

Products are key for this look to ensure it stays in place all day/night long. I would start by pulling all of the hair back of the face using a serum and a gel combined (the KMS HairPlay Styling Gel and KMS TameFrizz De-Frizz Oil are a perfect combo) to get a high shine look at the top of the hair and then securing into a ponytail at the nape of the neck.

I would then distribute a small amount of serum through the ponytail to add further smoothness and shine before wrapping this around the ponytail base and pinning into place.

The style should then be completed with a mist of hairspray like the KMS HairStay Firm Finishing Hairspray for extra hold and shine.

Large side sweeping fringes as seen on Fendi

Recently we have seen middle partings being very on trend and as we head further into 2023, we will see the return of the deep side parting and side fringe.

The great thing about this look is that most clients suit a side parting, particularly those with stronger face shapes that may want to add softness to their face and it’s also great for showing off strong facial features like your cheekbones.

Fendi gave this look a further fun finish by giving the look an almost ‘wet’ finish. This can be created with the help of a gel and then finished with a shine spray to give the hair further lustre and mirror like shine. The KMS HairStay Anti-Humidity Seal is a great weightless shine spray that will ensure hair stays frizz-free and weather-proofed!

Highlights of colour as seen on Diesel

I loved the fun, creative hair looks Diesel showed at their A/W LFW show. The models displayed streaks of colour through their natural base to create a unique, statement hair look.

I think we will see a lot more clients opting for streaks, highlights and panels of colour as we head further into 2023 instead of wearing these colours all over their hair.

This is a great option for clients who want to be experimental with colour and try something new without committing to wearing the colour all over.
