Shear Haven Training Program Now Available in Spanish and Vietnamese
New training released in time for Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October marks the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month – a month where communities across the UK and Ireland reflect on the victims of Domestic Violence and recognise the courage of survivors. The month of October is also a time for communities to raise awareness around the crisis of domestic violence – educating people to recognise and understand the crucial signs.
In advance of DV Awareness Month, Shear Haven has launched its free, online training program in Spanish and Vietnamese. The Shear Haven Training Program educates beauty professionals on the signs of domestic abuse. The lifesaving initiative has been downloaded in over 100 countries, with over 130,000 salon professionals having completed the 20-minute training.
“Translating the Shear Haven training into Spanish and Vietnamese is a monumental step in reaching more individuals who may be experiencing domestic violence,” said Susanne Shepherd Post, co-founder of Shear Haven and a domestic violence survivor. “By providing this training in multiple languages, we are not only equipping more beauty professionals with the tools they need to help their clients, but we are also potentially saving lives.”
The expansion of Shear Haven’s training program aims to provide critical resources to a wider audience and empower more salon professionals to recognize and respond to signs of domestic violence effectively.
Liz McKeon, Salon Business Expert and Shear Haven Ambassador for the UK and Ireland, said: “This domestic violence education is a crucial program that equips stylists with the knowledge and resources to recognise the signs of domestic violence, successfully navigate conversations with clients who may be in danger, and pass along tools that can help them get to safety. The programs translation into Spanish and Vietnamese will help expand the service to a wider audience of people, potentially saving lives”.
