2024 Spring/Summer Hair Trends Predictions

Baek

Seung Ki Baek has provided us with his spring/summer hair trend predictions. His crystal ball includes the upcoming colour, cut and styling trends we’ll see this spring, summer.

Seung Ki Ba is Creative Colour Expert at RUSH Hair and is British Hairdressing Awards Southern hairdresser of the year 2023-2024.

Colour

Orange

Orange will be one of the most dominant colour hues we will see this spring/summer 2024! All shades of orange from traditional pastels to peach tones to clementine orange and fiesty orange-red hues. This is great as you can chat with your client about the perfect orange hue to suit them, their skin tone, lifestyle and personality. For those clients for a low key take on the trend, a beautiful copper shade is an ideal choice, which will add a glow to their complexion whilst also giving their hair a radiant finish.

Pale/powder blue

Pale/powder blue and royal blue shades were also visible on the spring/summer 2024 catwalks and are beautiful calming shades. Lighter blue hues look great on blondes, giving their hair a fun pop of colour and darker blue tones look great on brunettes, giving their hair a petrol like finish and high shine. Blue also looks incredible paired other colour tones such as pink, green and purple for clients who are looking for a more creative and mesmerising look.

Blondes

Blonde is always on trend and for 2024 there will be an array of blonde shades being popular. Barbie inspired platinum blonde in particular was a big trend for 2023, however, for 2024 we will move away from this block colour blonde and instead see lived in blondes and more creamy, sandy and icy blondes becoming popular. All of which can be achieved using a number of colouring techniques to give the shade a dimensional and more natural finish in comparison to an all over block blonde.

Cuts & Styling

Hime Cut

A more creative haircut and a great choice for clients who like a more expressive hair look, the hime cut features a frontal fringe with face-framing side pieces that hit the cheekbone with the remaining hair being left long and straight. This is such a fun and unique haircut, but it also works wonders at drawing attention in to client’s best features such as their cheekbones and eyes. It does require more maintenance with trips to the salon and perfected styling but the results can be seriously cool.

Wolf Cut

The wolf cut surged in 2023 and it will continue to be on trend throughout 2024! This haircut is perfect for clients who are looking for a messier, effortless style cut that requires little to no styling but still looks super edgy and cool. A mix up of a shag cut and mullet cut, this cut features lots of disconnected layers and texture and it’s great for those who want to maintain their hair length but add some volume, body and movement to their hair.

Glossy, soft waves

Glossy, soft waves never go out of style and will be a particular popular trend in 2024 for clients looking to achieve that ‘clean girl’ aesthetic and a more lustrous hair look. This hairstyle trend works best when created with a heated styling iron, helping to create those loose ‘S’ shaped waves. For added softness, I always brush the hair out with a large tooth comb and apply a hair serum such as Goldwell Dual Senses Rich Repair 6 Effects Serum paying particular focus to the midlengths and ends, to give the waves a beautiful shine whilst getting rid of any frizz and flyaways.

Volume

Volume will be making a huge comeback in 2024 and we already saw this trend start to become popular towards the end of 2023 with supermodel hair trending across social media. When I say volume, I don’t mean the return of quiffs of big beehives, but instead, soft, luxe looking volume, focused at the crown of the head, but still with a high shine. This can be created using backcombing techniques and softening the look by brushing over the backcombed section of hair or by using volumising products to achieve the look. One of my favourite products is the Goldwell StyleSign Ultra Volume Soft Volumiser Blow-Dry Spray.
